Drug Gang 'El Clan Villalba' Detained in Buenos Aires

Six people, two men and four women, accused of being part of the drug trafficking gang 'El Clan Villalba' were detained in the Villa 1-11-14 neighborhood in the Flores area of Buenos Aires. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that officers from the City Police's Anti-Drug Division carried out six raids in the area. During the operations, they seized over 2,000 doses of cocaine base and paste, valued at 16 million dollars. The Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Drug-Related Crimes (UFEIDE) began investigating the organization this year. The gang took control of the Villa 1-11-14 area after the 'Los Marola' gang, which had been threatening residents to vacate their homes to turn them into drug dens bunkers, was dismantled in May 2023. That group was characterized by posing for photos with weapons and firing into the air while surrounded by their 'soldiers'. The Villalba clan controlled the Torres del Ricciardelli on 10th Street and were involved in drug trafficking, which prompted the authorities to carry out the operations, ordered by the No. 8 Penal, Contravention and Misdemeanor Court. During the procedures, officers arrested six people, including the leader of 'El Clan Villalba', a 38-year-old man, and seized nearly 900 grams of cocaine, some bearing the 'Dolphin' seal, a reference to the so-called 'Patron of the North', 250 grams of cocaine base, 304 ready-to-sale packages, marijuana, 9mm caliber ammunition, cell phones, and drug packaging materials. The detainees, a married couple and their five children, were placed at the disposal of the investigating magistrate.
